Tim Pettit
Biography
Tim was born in Brantford, Ontario but raised in Horseshoe Bay, British Columbia and Etobicoke, Ontario. In his younger days, Tim played rugby for the Vancouver Reps and Capilano Rugby Club and served as a combat engineer with the 6 th Field Engineering Squadron. He obtained an Honours History degree from UBC and a Bachelors of Law degree from the University of Western Ontario. Tim has worked as a lawyer on the North Shore since 1994. In April 2011, he founded Pettit and Company.
Tim is a trial lawyer with a diverse litigation practice. He regularly represents victims injured in accidents, wrongfully dismissed employees, builders and homeowners involved in construction disputes, strata corporations and owners, insurance companies and their insureds, family members involved in estate disputes, businesses with employment problems and victims of discrimination.
Tim seeks to practice law creatively and innovatively. He has frequently lectured on litigation issues, designed litigation strategy for a large insurer and trial strategy for training young BC lawyers. In 2021, Tim was recognized as a leading expert in both plaintiff and defence personal injury practice by Lexpert. Since founding his law firm, Tim has been a dedicated mentor. He seeks to provide a supportive environment for educating and inspiring his brilliant legal team, irrespective of their call to the Bar dates or roles at the firm. It is with joy that Tim watches his former assistants and junior lawyers grow into accomplished and steadfast mentors in their own right. Assistants are now paralegals; junior lawyers are now inspiring legal leaders.
